By scouring the market for the most competitively priced auto parts, we can consistently bring outstanding value to our customers. It is the reason our parts are the first choice for so many auto repair shops and direct customers across the region. It is also why our customers consider us the number one radiator and automotive cooling company in Illinois.

Since its creation way back in 1939 (thank the folks at Packard), automotive air conditioning really hasn’t changed all that much; the primary function of air conditioning is to remove humidity and to cool air.  The air conditioning system is made up of three main parts:  the compressor, the condenser, and the evaporator.

Nearly all automotive air conditioning system functions as a closed loop with a high-pressure side and a low-pressure side.

The high pressure side includes the compressor, condenser, and receiver-dryer or accumulator.  The compressor acts as a pump, compressing air and pushing it out to the condenser, the pressurized gas

from the compressor creates heat, the air flow around the condenser tubes cools the gas down to liquid form which is what eventually cools the car.   Once the gas is converted to liquid refrigerant form, it moves from the condenser to the dryer.  The dryer prepares the refrigerant for the evaporator (and low pressure side of the AC system) by removing any water that has entered the system.

The low-pressure side iscomposed of two main parts – the evaporator and the expansion valve or orifice tube.

Liquidrefrigerant is passed from the dryer to either the expansion valve or orifice tube where it expands.  This reduced pressure liquid is now ready to move to the evaporator, the valve or tube regulates the flow of coolant to the evaporator.  The evaporator is where this coolant is converted back into gaseous form (it has a very low boiling point) and is pushed out of the evaporator, taking heat with it.  A fan blows over the outside of the evaporator coil which in turn blows cold air into the car.
